Santorini Steakhouse by Panos is on the fifth floor of QRE Plaza on Queen's Road East in Wan Chai. It belongs to the Santorini group, which pilot Vasili Stamatis founded in 2013. Greek-born chef Panos Kalamidas trained in the UK and spent two decades cooking in Asia before turning the old Santorini taverna into what it calls Hong Kong's only Greek steakhouse. There is a long bar, a dry-ageing cabinet and an outdoor balcony.
Share the Mezze Madness platter of taramosalata, melitzanosalata, hummus and tzatziki, or the htipiti feta and smoked-pepper dip, then bougiourdi baked feta, saganaki, kolokithokeftedes and spanakopita. Moussaka is baked fresh each day in limited numbers. Steak eaters can go for the 450g Black Angus rib eye, which comes with Greek oregano and Greek fries.
It works for groups and celebrations, and for steak lovers who want Greek starters. The menu includes pork, and ouzo and Greek wines are poured. Phone bookings are recommended. A sister restaurant, Santorini The Greek Grill by Panos, is on Elgin Street in Soho.
