MAZI made its name as a Greek taverna in Bukit Tunku and now trades from a ground-floor unit in Bangsar Village 1 on Jalan Telawi. The room is airy and casual, with rattan lamps, cushioned banquettes and big windows over the street, and it runs as an all-day spot from late morning.
Order homemade pita with tzatziki, tirokafteri and melitzanosalata, then spanakopita and a horiatiki salad. A cast-iron charcoal Bertha oven turns out moussaka, gemista and gigantes plaki, and the grill handles oktapodi, paidakia lamb chops, kalamaki skewers and whole red snapper. Orzo beef giouvetsi is a good choice for a main, and galaktoboureko takes 15 minutes, so order it early.
Shoppers, families and Bangsar locals make up much of the trade, and the mixed grill platter feeds two or three. The menu also has Italian-style pastas and an Argentinian ribeye. The drinks list is coffee, tea, juices and mocktails, and the current menu lists no pork dishes. Book through UMAI or by WhatsApp.
