Éla, Greek for come, is a Greek-Mediterranean concept from The Black Hole Group, the team behind Tipo and Working Title. The Jalan Sultan restaurant sits in the Weave Suites block near Kampong Glam, a short walk from Nicoll Highway and Lavender MRT, and its pale, minimal room with arched mirrors feels unhurried.
Dips are made daily, with tyrokafteri, taramosalata and melitzanosalata among them, and the platter of three suits two or three people. The gyros arrive open on a whole flat pita, topped with chicken, beef kofta, coal-cooked lamb kofta or halloumi. Bigger appetites can share the Farmhouse platter or the seafood Seabreeze platter, or order kotopoulo, a charcoal-grilled half chicken, or lamb chops with baked figs. Saganaki made with talagani is a good side.
It is halal-friendly and serves no alcohol, though it is not halal-certified, so it suits mixed groups and family meals. It also hosts weddings for up to 60 guests. It opens from noon to 10pm and is closed on Tuesdays; book through Chope or order delivery online.
