Rallis is a garden taverna in a converted house in Hua Mak, off Ramkhamhaeng Road, with blue-and-white tables under string lights. Brothers Alexandros and Achilleas Rallis grew up between Greece and Thailand and opened it in 2019. Many of the recipes come from their father, a judo coach in Thessaloniki, and Greek and Cypriot expats treat it as a home from home.
The cooking is simple taverna food in big portions. Order gyros and souvlaki in pita, lamb chops, kleftiko and mixed grill platters, with tzatziki, other dips and homemade pita on the side. Greek salad and mezze plates fill out the table. Finish with rizogalo or thick Greek yoghurt with honey, and drink a Greek beer or ouzo.
It is worth the trip out to Bang Kapi for groups, birthdays and relaxed weekend dinners in the garden, and the set menus are built for sharing. There is also a small shop selling Greek imports. On weekdays it opens only in the evening, from 3pm, and it is closed on Mondays.
