Artemis & Apollo is Black Sheep Restaurants' take on an old Athenian taverna, set across two shopfronts on quiet Moon Street, just off Queen's Road East in Wan Chai. The white-walled room has shelves of Greek bottles and olive oil, green banquettes and wooden tables, and dishes are meant to be shared family-style. Chef Teya Mikhael, who grew up on the Lebanese coast north of Beirut, runs the kitchen.
Begin with taramasalata, tzatziki and chilli feta with warm pita, or honey-glazed feta and prawn saganaki, then spanakopita and a Greek village or Cypriot salad. From the souvla section there are chicken and pork souvlaki, loukaniko sausage and whole roasted market fish. The house order is Steki tou Ilia lamb chops, sold by the half kilo or kilo.
It suits long lunches and group dinners, and chef Teya's set taverna menu (HK$388 per head) keeps big tables simple. The wine list is all Greek and ouzo comes as a digestif. Pork is on the menu. A weekday lunch feast for two is also served, and SevenRooms handles bookings.
