Elamu sits on the main beach road in Kuta, Lombok, in a Mediterranean-style house with a garden courtyard, iron chairs and soft lighting after dark. Owner Yorgos built the menu around the recipes of his mother, Panayota, who grew up in Kalamata, and the place runs from breakfast through to late dinner.
Share the mix grill platter of chicken skewers, Greek meatballs and beefteki, or order the chicken souvlaki plate with pita, tzatziki and fries. Moussaka, soutzoukakia in tomato sauce and lamb shank kleftiko are the comfort dishes, while the Cretan dakos and king prawn saganaki suit lighter appetites. Pita is refilled free.
It suits couples, groups of friends and families after a relaxed but polished dinner, and a Sunday brunch buffet draws a crowd. Queues build at peak times, so arrive early or reserve via WhatsApp. Menu prices exclude 5% service and 10.5% tax. Cocktails and wine are served, and there is a smoking terrace outside. Buffets for celebrations of 20 or more can be arranged.
