The Santorini story began in 2011 with a small souvlaki warung on Poppies Lane in Kuta, Bali, run by the family matriarch, Nitsa. In January 2025 the family opened this seafront site on Gili Air, with a restaurant terrace on the sand, a bakery and gelato counter, a wine bar and boutique rooms upstairs facing the sunrise over Rinjani.
The menu is homely Greek. Start with the mixed dip plate of tzatziki, hummus, eggplant and skordalia, then go for a gyros plate, a souvlaki plate of three skewers, or moussaka with Greek salad. The slow-cooked lamb is a recurring special, and the Fournos bakery turns out spanakopita, tiropita and galaktoboureko from 6am.
It works for families, couples and anyone wanting a long, sandy-toed lunch; the terrace is the draw at sunset. Pork appears in the gyros and souvlaki. Book by WhatsApp in high season. Sister restaurants operate in Bali on Poppies Lane 1 in Kuta, in Seminyak near Double Six, on Jalan Batu Mejan in Canggu, and in Sanur.
